Magician legend Siegfried suffers from cancer
Siegfried Fischbacher, a former member of the famous magician duo “Siegfried and Roy”, is apparently seriously ill with cancer. As several media reported unanimously on Monday, the 81-year-old is said to suffer from pancreatic cancer.
According to information from the picture, Fischbacher had an operation for twelve hours and the malignant tumor was removed. Doctors have now released the entertainer from the hospital at his own request, but there are no chances of a cure.
Fischbacher's sister Margot, a nun from Munich, said at the request of the tabloid:
I take my brother with me in each of my prayers and am deeply connected to him.
She is not allowed to visit her brother due to the corona pandemic. Fischbacher is currently located in his property “Little Bavaria” (Eng. “Small Bavaria”) near Las Vegas. There he is being cared for by two hospice nurses. Fischbacher shared the residence with his partner Roy Horn for years. He died in May 2020 at the age of 75 as a result of a corona infection.
Animal welfare as a legacy
Siegfried and Roy sold out shows in the gambling metropolis Las Vegas for decades. Engagements in casinos like the MGM Grand and the Mirage made the duo not only famous, but also wealthy.
Siegfried and Roy's legendary status was underpinned by the Mirage Casino last year. Management named a street after the famous magicians in August 2020. There is also Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat on the casino area, which is home to numerous animal species.
According to the magazine Focus, the magicians are said to have amassed a private fortune of an estimated 185 million euros.
Siegfried told the picture two years ago that the assets should serve to protect the white tigers from extinction. Siegfried and Roy had held numerous stage shows with the animals and had great success in Las Vegas. Currently, 30 of the rare tigers are said to still live in Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden.
